Project 01: Dinosaur Roar

What do YOU think a dinosaur sounds like?

Share your video, and see yourself on the Omni screen!

Much of what we know about dinosaurs is based on the fossil record, which is often incomplete. In the 1960s, only five partial Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons had been discovered, giving paleontologists limited insight into how these ancient predators looked and behaved. An example of these scientists' best idea of the T. rex stands outside the Museum, greeting visitors in the driveway.

Today, there are more than 30 skeletons - some almost complete - offering a more robust hypothesis of what the T. rex actually looked like. You can see an updated model in the Dinosaurs: Modeling the Mesozoic exhibit at the Museum and the upcoming Omni film, Dinosaurs Alive!.

Still, fossilized skeletons do not tell us the whole story on dinosaurs - especially what they sounded like. Why don't you take a crack at it? Give us your best dinosaur roar by uploading your video to this site. Your submission could be chosen for the Mugar Omni Theater preshow!

We are no longer accepting submissions for this project, but please feel free to view past submissions!
